Jennifer Grimm
Jennifer Grimm
Growing up on the road was fun for Jennifer as she danced and sang her way across the country with her family's variety act for the first thirteen years of her life. After settling down in the Twin Cities in her teens, she attended public school for the first time and kept performing with her mother, Colleen Raye, in various venues including the Mall of America, Treasure Island Casino and Mystic Lake Casino.
While earning her degree in Mathematics from Augsburg College, Jennifer continued singing in clubs with 10-piece funk bands, in various cabaret and theater venues with theater companies, and in convention halls and churches as a featured vocalist with Augsburg College's Gospel Praise.
Soon after college, Jennifer ventured into her solo career, appearing on stages locally with such names as Garrison Keillor and Debbie Duncan, and in New York City, Europe and the Caribbean. With radio and recording success in local areas and overseas, Jennifer continues to base herself at home in the Twin Cities.
Some of Jennifer’s credits include performing at Carnegie Hall; Johnny Mercer Songbook Series at the Ordway; Steerage Song at the Fitzgerald Theater; earning the #2 spot on Aruba's year-end top 100 countdown; performing in New York City with shining press in The Village Voice; opening up for Oleta Adams at the St. Vincent Blues Festival; performing on Garrison Keillor's (creator of A Prairie Home Companion) Rhubarb Show; sharing performance events with Huey Lewis and The News, Michael Buble, and Martina McBride; starring in the Ordway's production of My Way, A Musical Tribute to Frank Sinatra; being the voice of the World Figure Skating Champions Tour theme song; and singing as a featured artist on many albums including Gene Adams' Jazz Anthology, Power of 10, The Minnesota Boychoir, Century Big Band, New York's Jonathan Rayson, Norah Long, Theater Latte Da, Girl Singers of the Hit Parade, Mark Croft, Tim Patrick and the Blue Eyes Band, Gourmet Jazz and LA's Holly Long.
Jennifer has a career as a voiceover artist as well, being selected as the singing/speaking voice for Target, OfficeMax, HealthPartners, virtuwell.com, Levaquil, KMart, Only Deals, Minnesota Organization on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, Glucerna, RightSize Smoothies, Doctors Say Yes, Maplewood Toyota, Roseville Midway Ford, CreditAnswers, FIG, PerfectMatch.com, Papa Murphy's, QuitPlan, Bremer Bank and many more.
Recently, a few original song placements in SHOWTIME's House Of Lies, NBC's Parenthood (Seasons 1 & 2), USA's Suits, TLC's Sarah Palin's Alaska, and NBC's Sing Off have been exciting and have led to more opportunities writing for SONY and being published by UNIVERSAL PUBLISHING. Jennifer's music can now be found on
Colleen Raye
Colleen Raye
Colleen Raye is an accomplished singer, actress and entertainer. A native of Wisconsin, Colleen began her singing career at age 15 performing in her brother's band, "The Tradewinds". One of 7 children, Colleen is from a very music-oriented family and she carried on the tradition by going to college and majoring in music. While in college she performed in musicals, operettas, concert choirs, jazz bands, madrigals and vocal jazz groups. At the age of 19, Colleen performed with the Lovell Ives Jazz Quintet in Green Bay where she met Peter Polzak, an accomplished jazz pianist, and established herself as a jazz vocalist. After winning the "Horace Heidt Jr." talent contest in St. Paul, MN, at 19, Colleen began performing with the "Donnie Sanders Show", a nationally touring night club act. Soon after, Colleen met Steve Grimm, a former "New Christy Minstral" and international performer. They combined their talents to create "The Steve Grimm and Colleen Raye Show", a successful night club show band. During the eighteen years they were together, they were highly acclaimed. Not only a professional relationship - Colleen and Steve married and had 4 children. All of them are successful musicians in their own rights, Trey ZehrGrimm, Jennifer Grimm, Reed Grimm, and Sophia Grimm. The children performed with Steve and Colleen on special occasions at first and then more regularly until the couple separated. Colleen developed a stage show of Patsy Cline music and several other formats, and forged her own music career not only as a vocalist but also a vocal and performance coach, producer and composer. Colleen has traveled the country performing on stages ranging from the Tropicana in Atlantic City and Las Vegas to the Oklahoma and North Dakota State Fairs. Colleen created and produced a series of "GIRL SINGERS" shows, including“ The Girl Singers of the Hit Parade”, "Sirens of The 60s", "Girl Singers Christmas Show" and "The Belting Babes of Broadway," along with her "Musical Tribute to Patsy Cline," "An Evening At The Cabaret" and recently a new show, "Sinatra and Company - Music From The Pat pack Era." Colleen has a natural freshness, outstanding rich alto voice, energy and charisma and a great sense of humor. Unusually versatile, Colleen captivates audiences with ease no matter what the genre.
Sophie Grimm
Sophie Grimm
Sophie Grimm is the fourth and final child of the Grimm and Raye family, which was cooking long before she was born. Her sizzlin' mom, Colleen Raye, and poppin' dad, Steve Grimm, started their own show (THE STEVE GRIMM AND COLLEEN RAYE SHOW, if you can imagine that) and began traveling in and outside of the country. Before this, Steve played as a "New Christy Minstrel" and Colleen as part of the "Peter Polzak Jazz Trio", but now, in the heyday of lounge acts, the two played as one of the most successful show-bands of the country, doing extended contracts in places like Las Vegas, Atlantic City, and Puerto Rico. While doing all of this, they found time to have Trey, Jennifer, Reed, and of course, Sophie Grimm, who inevitably (and happily!) became a part of the traveling act.
